The small township of Neath in the Hunter Valley lies on the long stretch of road between Kurri Kurri and Cessnock. after passing through Kuri Kuri, motorists will come across the National Trust registered Neath Hotel.
First opening in 1914, Neath Hotel offers its guests a unique historical experience with a splendid collection of antiques, memorabilia and many of the hotel’s original features still intact. Located on the hotel’s ground floor level are; grand foyer, public bar, gaming room, dining rooms, kitchen, managers quarters and a large beer garden. There are twenty eight guest rooms located on the first and second floor levels comprising of single, double and family size rooms. Each accommodation level comprises of men’s and ladies bathroom facilities which include toilets, shower and a bath. The quaint sitting rooms situated at the exit of the central staircase to both accommodation levels lead out onto the front veranda. The large verandas on the first floor level overhang both the front and rear of hotel providing a distinctively colonial look for the hotel. The beer garden area at the rear of the hotel is large and was originally used as an enclosure for horses.

A grand brick structure with an iron roof, Neath Hotel is the largest building of its kind in the area. The magnificent appearance of the hotel is a testament to its historical significance; the wide verandas trimmed with lace ironwork and timber post and railings are integral to the hotel’s grand exterior. Neath Hotel has been offering country style meals, comfortable accommodation and great beer continuously for the past 94 years. Neath Hotel also caters for functions and has been named among the leading Country Style Hotels for accommodation. Neath Hotel has been carefully maintained over the years and much to the credit of its many previous proprietors during the past century, the hotels’ original architecture has been carefully preserved. Due to deterioration, current proprietors Brett and Michelle Walton have recently replaced the structural and flooring timbers in the front veranda as well as relacing the timber doors of the original ‘coach-house’ whilst maintaining the original designs.
